About the ITAC Network

What is it?

The International Teaching Artist Collaborative (ITAC) is a global network of Teaching Artists (also known as community artists, participatory artists, artist mediators, or socially engaged artists) who use their artistry to catalyse meaningful social change in their communities and schools.

Our network is made up of 4,000+ grassroots practitioners from all over the world (45+ countries), 5 National Hubs, and multiple key partners. All of our work and projects are designed to serve the needs of this community.

Since 2012 ITAC Conferences have been taking place in different parts of the world every 2 years. This led to an appetite from our sector to stay connected between summits, and so in 2018 our year-round network was born. We moved from only ITAC Conferences to an ITAC Collaborative.

Membership to our network is totally free, and gives you access to our purpose-built portal full of resources, Hub spaces and more.

How does it work?

Our Network is primarily made up of 4 key components:

1. The ITAC Staff & Leadership Committee - This group leads the strategic direction and work of the organisation overall, based on the feedback we receive from our network.

2. ITAC National Hubs - This is a cohort of national entities with a strong commitment to Teaching Artistry and supporting the sector (and practitioners) in their region. Hubs work directly with ITAC and individual Members to set and deliver our mission. We currently have Hubs in England, Norway, South Korea and the USA.

3. Individual Members - The majority of our network is made up of expert, dedicated Teaching Artists all over the world with a desire to contribute and connect with the international community. Membership is free to all, including non-TA members and organisational members. Depending on level of engagement a Member has with our network and activities, they fall into the following categories:

- ITAC Activator (most engaged level & enjoys multiple exclusive benefits)
- ITAC Contributor (somewhat engaged & enjoys some exclusive benefits)
- ITAC Member (receives our news/updates and stays in the loop about news & events)

4. Self Organised Collectives - For network Members who don't have access to a Hub in their region yet, it's not uncommon for informal groups to gather or casually form cohorts which tap into to ITACs work. These are not officially affiliated with our Network, but they are a great way for groups to remain engaged.

Whether you’re a Teaching Artist, and organisation, a supporter of the work,  or just curious to learn more, we invite you to join our thriving community!
